Rodial Review #3: Airbrush Make-Up

By Thursday, September 7, 2017 0 Permalink 1

As a complete contrast to the previous post in this series, here is Rodial’s full coverage foundation. This is their pot of Airbrush Makeup, and guys it really is full coverage.

Don’t let the size fool you, a little bit goes a long way with this stuff. I’ve been applying this with a buffing brush, which gives it its fullest coverage. If you wanted to thin it out a bit you could always mix it with an oil on the back of your hand first or apply it with a damp beauty sponge. This really packs a punch; there is no need to build this product up, nor is their much of a need to mattify this with powder. I always mattify my t-zone and that is all I do with this. I love this product for nights out when I want my face to look flawless, last a long time, and have zero flashback in photos.

The consistency of this foundation is like a paste and I do find that it can separate around my nose if I don’t wear a primer. It comes in four shades (I wear the shade 03), so again, not a huge shade range, but if they have yours and you’re looking for a full coverage foundation, definitely give this one a try!

Rodial Review #2: Skin Tint

By Wednesday, September 6, 2017 0 Permalink 1

One of the first Rodial products I tried was this skin tint. As most of you know, a natural skin finish is my bread and butter. I’m all for the bare minimum it takes to hide a few flaws but ultimately, enhance natural beauty. So a skin tint like this is right up my alley.

The formula of this is very lightweight with a dewy finish. It has a medium coverage but is buildable, and it builds up so well – no streak marks or any of the product breaking up weirdly. It contains amino-peptides which help to brighten the skin and assist with signs of ageing. It also contains an spf of 20, which isn’t much but it’s still something.

I love this product for when I’m in a rush, especially in the warmer months. This comes in five shades, I have the shade “St Barts”. Unfortunately they don’t run too dark, but if you’re on the tanned to light spectrum you’ll love this!

Rodial Review #1: Snake Serum O2

By Tuesday, September 5, 2017 0 Permalink 1

Being that Rodial was a brand that was birthed out of a love of skincare, of course the first edition to this series would be a skincare post.

This product in particular is from Rodial’s Snake range and is their serum. If you’re not familiar with serums, they are basically a step before moisturiser that works as an extra layer of moisture as well as offering other benefits. Ever since I’ve started using serums, I can’t not have them in my skincare routine.

The Snake Serum O2 is part of Rodial’s Anti-Age range. Which, I know I’m still relatively young, but I like adding a few of these products to my routine as a preventative measure.

Don’t let the name scare you, no snakes were harmed in the making of this serum! This product contains a Syn-Ake Dipeptide (a snake-venom inspired peptide), which reduces fine lines. There is also an oxygen carrier in the formula to encourage cell respiration, and a moisture stimulant known as Sodium Hyaluronate.

Overall a great serum if what you’re looking for is anti-aging properties that will keep your face moisturised and youthful.

A South African Tries Sourced Box

By Wednesday, August 23, 2017 0 Permalink 1

It’s time I started putting an effort into getting healthy. If you know me, you know that sweet treats and snacking are my absolute weakness. If I see a doughnut or lemon cheesecake, best believe I will be devouring it in the near future. So to ease the guilt of these moments of weakness, I decided to try out Sourced Box.

I have a video going up later this week of me unboxing and tasting a few snacks. I’ll link it here when it’s up!

July Sourced Box

To bring you up to speed, Sourced Box is a subscription service for healthy snacks. Unfortunately, this service is only available in the UK and a few other European countries – such a bummer! Hopefully they branch out internationally soon.

There are two payment plans to go for – month to month, or annually. Obviously, annually works out cheaper, but as I was only in the UK for 3 months I went for the monthly option. That worked out to 18,95 GBP per month.

All snacks are selected for you as this is about convenience, and all snacks are completely organic and appropriate for a vegan diet. All boxes get delivered in the first week of every month, and you are notified via email when it is on its way.

Now onto the snacks:

iRaw Raw Crackers – a sundried tomato cracker, slightly chewy, perfect for dipping or on their own, so yummy

Ape Crunchy Coconut Bites – slightly sweet, coconutty taste, small disc treats with a light and crunchy texture

Bio Style Goody Sunny Lucuma Bites – small disc treats, sweet and lemony flavour, but a more chewy texture

Wyldsson Low Carb Chilli Picante – a plastic tube filled with a combination of nuts, seeds, dried coconut, with quite a strong chilli taste, great for spice lovers!

Gregory’s Tree Double Fruit Twists – for that sweet tooth, deliciously sweet dried fruit twists, you’d never guess these were organic

The Food Doctor Beetroot & Walnut Goodness Bar

Water Works Watermelon Water – definitely a more natural taste, no added sugar, refreshing taste of watermelon

Chewsy All-Natural Chewing Gum – love the lemon flavour, taste doesn’t last too long, but great for gum lovers – these are much healthier for you!

Hoogly Apple Strudel Green Tea – distinct cinnamon taste, very yummy and comforting tea

The Protein Ball Co. Lemon + Pistachio – perfect snack on-the-go, subtle flavour, packed with goodness

Mighty Bee Coconut Jerky – chewy texture, just like biltong (jerky), subtle coconut and biltong flavour

I hope you guys found this post informative. Even if you can’t subscribe to this service, just knowing that products like this exist is enough. Just do your research!

Dior Skin Nude Air Luminizer

By Wednesday, August 2, 2017 0 Permalink 5

I bet you guys saw this one coming. Also, spoiler alert: I love this and you should buy it. Just in case you wanted to know more, here are my thoughts on the Dior Skin Nude Air Luminizer.

There are four shades of this product; 001, 002, 003, and 004. I have the shade 001 which is a pale golden shade. There is also a pale pink shade, a more yellow-toned gold shade, and a bronze shade. I had this product applied to my face in-store, which I highly recommend getting done, and decided that 001 was the best suit for me.

The packaging is absolutely stellar. The product comes in a box with a kabuki brush and fabric pouch to keep it protected. There is also a mirror on the inside and the quality looks and feels exactly how you’d expect a Dior product to look and feel – exquisite.

Now onto application. I was surprised to find that there was absolutely no kick-off with this powder. With highlighters, I’m used to dipping into the product with my brush and having to duct off the excess and this doesn’t do that. You don’t have to feel scared to apply this to your face at the risk of looking like a beam of light, but you can definitely build it to that level easily.

I highly rate this product from Dior, it has quickly become a well-loved high-end product, and I would definitely recommend you check it out. Retail price: 39,50 GBP
