She’s finally, finally, finally here! The Maybelline Matte + Powerless foundation has finally hit South African shores and now I can post this on the blog without creating an unfulfilled longing in the hearts of my local readers.
This is an incredibly lightweight formula with a satin finish. This does not dry out my skin or cake up and has a medium coverage (freckles still visible) with one layer, but is definitely buildable for those areas you want more coverage on. It claims to be matte and erase the appearance of pores, but I don’t think it does either of these things fully. It definitely minimises the appearance of pores and leaves my skin looking like a slightly more mattified version of itself. Go in with a concealer if you want to cover up blemishes completely! I personally love the finish and coverage of this foundation.
It does fade throughout the day, so don’t expect this to look fresh for hours, but that is the case with most affordable foundations. I would recommend using a primer with this product as well as setting your face with a powder before bronzing, highlighting, etc.
This is available in 14 shades and retails for R92,95. Overall, I highly recommend this product, and a big fat YAY for these hyped products finally reaching our shores.
