I for one have heard many things about the benefits of coconut oil, and not just for your hair; for cooking, as a moisturiser, and many more. Since being in London, I noticed that the water was drying out my hair and skin and decided to give coconut oil a try.
As a hair mask, I am absolutely obsessed. I apply this from roots to ends and leave it for as long as I can, preferably overnight, then wash it out with my normal shampoo and conditioner. I say overnight because this will make your hair look very greasy once applied, so be warned! I have not had an issue with rinsing this out but do a double cleanse at your roots if it’s stubborn. I have noticed a big difference in the texture of my hair in that after a few uses my hair feels softer, looks less frizzy, and the biggest difference is that it has dramatically reduced signs of dandruff. That might be TMI but I have had phases of dandruff since school and using this has really helped.
In cooking this is great to use as a healthy substitute for any oil or butter. For skincare, this works as a rich body moisturiser, light spf or lip balm. I still use a body butter because I found that this doesn’t sink in to my skin as quickly as I would like it to, but in an emergency it’s good to know that all I need is one product. And guys, it is SO cheap. Why spend loads on expensive hair masks when this multi-purpose product can do the trick?
Just make sure you’re buying completely organic and raw! As a whole, highly recommend this natural and beautiful product.
