Recently, my family and I decided to take a road trip to the beautiful Assegai farm in Robertson. It’s about a two-hour drive from the city, and oh heavens, is it worth it.
The Lancewood TiPi Lodge is where we stayed, and living in a TiPi is just as cool as you’d think it is. The lodge has three TiPi’s so far, and they accommodate from 2 to 12 guests. All TiPi sites come with a fireplace, beds and bedding, hot water bottles, basic cutlery and crockery, a private outdoor shower and washbasin, and a cooking area with a washbasin and gas cooker. There is also a block nearby with toilets and showers, and a swimming pool. I’d consider this as more of a “glamping” experience – so pleasant and SO peaceful.
Along with the TiPi lodge, Assegai also offers alternative accommodation in the form of the Assegai House, if the outdoors isn’t your thing. Also on offer, are activities like hiking, archery, clay pigeon shooting, and an holistic massage, amongst many other things. There are also other attractions in the area, such as a cactus farm, an olive farm, and plenty wine farms for you to choose from.
If you’re looking for an escape and an entirely unique experience, I would highly recommend the Assegai Rest accommodation. The owners, André and Jacky, are also lovely and very helpful! All their info links will be listed below and a vlog will be posted shortly on our experience 🙂
