Review: Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

By Thursday, October 29, 2015 0 Permalink 2

I’m a big fan of micellar waters to remove my makeup, and so far my favourite has been the Bioderma water. These waters are great because they remove makeup gently and very effectively without leaving your face feeling stripped. I’ve tried out a few and am always on the hunt for a budget-friendly version of the Bioderma one. In comes Garnier.

I have to say that this is the only drugstore micellar water that has impressed me. The product comes in a massive bottle so it will last ages, it retails for R79,99, and it caters to two different skin types – sensitive and combination to oily. There is no fragrance and I miiight even prefer it to Bioderma *pause for effect*

It does a great job of removing makeup, is super affordable, and takes good amount of time to get through. Definitely worth a try! 🙂

My Favourite Drugstore Foundation!

L’Oreal hit the nail on the head with their Infallible foundations. I have been using the original Infallible foundation for a while and then when they released the matte version in South Africa I just couldn’t wait to try it out and see if it was worth the hype – it is.

On an everyday basis I still love my MAC Face and Body, but when I want something with a slightly heavier coverage but still with a dewy finish, I’ve been reaching for my L’Oreal Infallible (in shade 250 Radiant Sand). I use less than a pump of this for my whole face, the shade selection is pretty good and the finish of it works great with my skin.

When I want something with a similar amount of coverage but with a matte finish, I’ve been reaching for the L’Oreal Infallible 24h-Matte (in shade 32 Amber). I love this for night time or special occasions because it means I have to put in less work to keeping shine off my face. As I’ve mentioned before, I have oily skin, and as much as I love a dewy, youthful finish in my foundations, it means I constantly have to check for shine. This foundation does an amazing job of minimising that.

I wouldn’t say they last 24 hours on my skin – as the name would suggest – but they do last a really long time, even more so with a primer. The primer from the Infallible 24h-Matte collection is also a goodie. I’ve really been enjoying this range so I knew I had to share it with you guys 🙂

Hope you guys are having a good week!

Review: Essence Lip Products

By Thursday, October 8, 2015 0 Permalink 2

I’ve been a fan of Essence makeup for a good few years now. The first product I owned from them was a twist-up black eyeliner and it’s been a favourite of mine ever since, so I thought I’d try out some lip products 🙂

I saw that there were new shades released at Clicks so I picked up a few lipsticks and two lipliners. I got the lipstick shades Barely There, Coral Calling, and On The Catwalk, and in the lipliners I got the shades 07 Cute Pink and 06 Satin Mauve.

The formula of the lipsticks is very moisturising with decent pigmentation but I prefer to use these in conjunction with a lipliner because I find that moisturising lipsticks tend to feather out on the edges of the lips so the lipliner keeps it neat. I love the shades; Barely There is a cool-toned nude mauve colour, Coral Calling is a good old-fashioned summery coral colour, and On The Catwalk is a deep berry colour.

I would highly recommend both the lipsticks and the lipliners; the quality is great and so is the price point. Definitely worth checking out!
