Clicks was having one of their beauty sales and I surprised myself by not buying the whole store. Look at me all grown up. So if you’re as nosey as I am and just want to see what I bought or you just want to know the kinds of products you could potentially get your hands on, then keep reading 🙂

3 x Sorbet Face Masks:

These all comprise of two steps; applying the serum at the top of the pack and then applying the sheet mask over your face and letting it set for 15-20 minutes. I’ve heard good things about these so I’m super keen to try them out myself.

  • Hydrating Serum Mask (Soothing)
  • Firming Serum Mask (Ultra Lifting)
  • Cleansing Serum Mask (Energising)

Maybelline Brow Satin – this is a new brow product from Maybelline, I haven’t heard too much about it but it looked really promising when I tried it out in the store.

Revlon Gel Envy Nail Enamel – I bought the shade “640 Joker’s Wild” and got a free Diamond Top Coat (score!). The top coat makes any nail polish look like it’s a gel job so let’s see if it prolongs the life of my painted nails.

Nutraderm Moisturising Cream – this is my go-to daily moisturiser and I like having a travel size version.

Garnier Pure Active Micellar Cleansing Water – I love a good micellar cleansing water and I’m always game for trying out a drugstore version because Bioderma is so damn expensive. I’ve been really impressed so far 🙂

3 x Essence Longlasting Lipstick – I bought the shade “Natural Beauty” a few months ago and loved the quality (especially considering the price!), so I went for three new ones: “04 On The Catwalk!”, “06 Barely There”, and “01 Coral Calling”.

2 x Essence Lipliner – these were recently featured in a video of one of my favourite YouTubers and again, super affordable. I got the shades “06 Satin Mauve” and “05 Soft Berry”.

I can’t wait to try out all of these products and you guys can expect plenty of reviews coming up soon! While I’m doing that, do yourselves a favour and check out the Clicks beauty sale (it would also ease my guilt) 🙂

Review: Body Shop Spa of the World

I was so excited when this range of Body Shop products hit South African shores! The idea is that they wanted to provide an international relaxing ritual for use in the comfort of your own home.

I decided to go for two of the products in the range that paired together, so I went for the Dead Sea Salt Scrub and the Hawaiian Kukui Cream. I’ve been using both together for a good few weeks and have absolutely loved the results. As you can expect, the Body Shop have produced another killer scrub and body cream. The range is slightly more expensive than the norm, but you get what you pay for; the packaging looks and feels so luxurious, and there is quite a bit more product inside.

Now onto the products:

Dead Sea Salt Scrub

The salt of this product is coarse and as the packaging indicates, full of minerals. I apply this in the shower onto dry areas like my knees and elbows but also to my legs and shoulders because leading up to Summer, I like to make sure those areas are polished and smooth as a baby’s bottom. As I said, the salt is coarse, but it comes in a smooth cream that makes it so easy and a joy to use.

Hawaiian Kukui Cream

Ideally, I like to apply this cream after my shower when I’m still warm and towel dried. The story behind this is that the Hawaiians used Kukui oil to keep their skin hydrated after long days in the sun, and this product is a development from that. Super creamy, smells incredible, and soaks into the skin quickly. I love the way this makes my skin feel, especially when used in conjunction with the scrub.

I will definitely be trying out more products from the Spa of the World range – let me know if you have any in mind that you’d like my opinion on! The Body Shop rarely disappoints when it comes to body products (as the name would suggest, DUH) and these are no exception. Simply delicious 🙂

New Brushes! EcoTools Review

By Thursday, September 10, 2015 0 Permalink 1

I was browsing in Clicks a few weeks ago (such a weakness!), and I came across the EcoTools stand; there was a three for two special so naturally I just had to take advantage of it 🙂

I’ve heard really good things about EcoTools brushes so I did a little research and tested out a few of them. These brushes are super affordable, cruelty-free (big bonus), and are surprisingly good quality. I love how light they feel in my hand when I use them and the bristles themselves are incredibly soft to the touch. They’re also really easy to clean and don’t shed when in use which is one of the things that bothers me the most about some of my higher end brushes.

EcoTools

Large Powder Brush – I got this because I wanted a super fluffy brush to lightly powder my face when setting my makeup, and I got exactly what I was looking. It is so soft, so fluffy, and doesn’t move my foundation around like some powder brushes can do.

Tapered Blush Brush – I’ve been using this brush to contour my cheek bones with and it is perfect. I found it to be a little too tapered and firm for blush but for contouring it works amazingly well.

Full Eyeshadow Brush – this brush is the perfect size to be an all-rounder product. It’s large enough to apply colour to the whole lid and tapered enough to blend in the crease and get right in those inner corners.

I would highly recommend that you guys try this brand out. Their selection isn’t great but they’ve got the basics, and they do their basics SO well.

August Favourites!

Everyone’s thinking it so I’ll just say it – HOW ARE WE IN SEPTEMBER? This year is flying by and I can already sense Christmas in the air, but that might just be because I get a little bit too excited for Christmas.

So, let’s dive right into my latest loves:

  • Badger Cuticle Care – I have been a cuticle biter from a very young age and in the past month I found this gem. It is an organic, moisturising balm that I apply to my hands every time I get out the shower and it has really helped.
  • L’Oreal Infallible 24hr Matte – this is definitely my no. 1 favourite for the month. It’s the perfect shade for me (I wear the shade Amber), keeps me matte (miracle!), and makes for flawless-looking skin. I will be doing an in-depth review on this soon so stay tuned! 🙂
  • Toni & Guy curling wand – Any time I’ve done my hair for an occasion, I always straightened it, but I was never happy with how flat it looked and felt like it didn’t really suit me. In comes the beautiful curling wand and my life is changed! It works with the natural curl in my hair, is so much quicker to do, and makes my hair look so voluminous and healthy. LOVE.
  • Urban Decay Naked palette – Every blogger and their mother has spoken about their love for this palette and I finally understand the hype. Great colour selection, great quality, and I really love the packaging. This is an all ’rounder and a must for any makeup collection.
  • Nivea Sun Pocket Size 30 spf – I’m quite rubbish at applying sunblock everyday so I got this to keep with me everywhere I go and it’s really gotten me into the habit of protecting my skin. And also, look how cute 🙂
  • OGX nourishing coconut milk – this is an anti-breakage serum that I started using because the ends of my hair can get quite dry. I’ve loved the results and the smell is any coconut-lover’s dream. They have other formulas too so definitely check them out.
  • Churros – this wouldn’t be a favourites list without some type of food in it. These heavenly sticks of fried goodness were undoubtedly a highlight of my trip to Europe. They have a doughnut-type consistency and you can choose to have them dunked in sugar, melted caramel, or melted chocolate; definitely a way of getting European locals to get us holiday-makers to over-indulge. I need to stop talking about them now because my mouth is starting to salivate.
  • Al Bairre – South African band that I have had the pleasure of seeing live a few times. I’ve used a few of their tracks in my vlogs because they make the kind of music that just puts you in a good mood; so good for Summer. Click on their name to get to their soundcloud 😉
